The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is an organization that represents all Binghamton University graduate students. The mission of the GSO is to liaise between graduate students and university entities to ensure that graduate student needs are met. The GSO is composed of senators and representatives from all the academic departments on campus, as well as an Executive board that addresses graduate student issues and concerns. We provide several types of funding for graduate students, helpful information in our communications and social events that draw graduate students together across disciplines. Some of our most common services include:

Travel Funding

The GSO reimburses students for certain conference and research travel expenses.

Group Funding

The GSO supports Departmental and Sociocultural groups seeking funding for a variety of programming benefiting graduate students.

Connecting and Promoting

Our weekly newsletters aim to inform the graduate population of different events and opportunities available. Our newsletter goes out every Monday. Please click the icon above if you would like to advertise your event in our newsletter.

Sociocultural groups

The graduate community is encouraged to organize and coordinate through the creation of socio-cultural and multicultural sub-organizations. The Socio-Cultural Multicultural Assembly (SCMA) shall serve as the governing body for all non-departmental chartered sub-organizations. The SCMA approves and allocates funds for social and cultural events and to oversee the activities using these funds.
